What is vaginal dryness?

There are 4 million menopausal women in the United Kingdom.  Approximately 10-40% of menopausal women experience atrophic vaginitis (vaginal dryness).

What is most shocking is that only 25 % of women actively seek treatment for vaginal dryness.
Menopause is caused by reduced oestrogen levels.  After menopause the lining is thinned, and the increased vaginal pH predisposes to infection

It’s when a woman notices that her vagina seems drier and less comfortable than normal –something that very many women experience. This could be due to a variety of reasons, for example after childbirth, as a side-effect of some medicines or it might simply be a phase your body is going through.

It’s particularly common after the menopause when the lining of the vagina becomes thinner because of changes in hormone levels – and this can lead to discomfort during sexual intercourse. It might also mean that infections are more likely.

What are the symptoms?

Some of the most common reported symptoms of vaginal dryness include;

  • Dryness
  • Itching
  • Burning
  • Soreness
  • Pressure
  • White discharge
  • Smelly discharge due to infection
  • Painful sexual intercourse
  • Bleeding after intercourse
  • Spontaneous sores and cracks
  • Urinary symptoms (frequency, painful, incontinence)

How can you treat this problem?

Simple lubricants can be bought over the counter; they are generally water-based and can provide a temporary answer to difficult intercourse.

Hormone-replacement therapy (often called ‘HRT’) may be prescribed by your doctor who should explain its benefits and possible side-effects.

Hormonal pessaries (hormones inserted directly into the vagina) can also be prescribed, but may take weeks to work and can have side-effects.

So what differences will you notice about new Repadina?

Repadina is unique: it’s the first hormone-free ‘ovule’ specially designed to treat vaginal dryness by moisturising and healing.

Simply insert a Repadina ovule directly into your vagina where it will ease your symptoms quickly and effectively – and begin to bring you long-lasting relief.

How does Repadina work?

Repadina works in two ways:

  • Repadina moisturises and soothes with a natural blend of essential oils that includes calendula, aloe vera and tea tree oil
  • Repadina helps to heal and repair damage with Hyaluron, a healing agent found naturally in healthy tissue

What is Hyaluron

Hyaluron also known as Hyaluronic Acid, a natural component of the vaginal mucosa and plays an important role in hydrating and healing vaginal tissue.  Hyaluronic Acid absorbs over 1000 times its weight in water making it a highly effectively hydrating agent.

Hyaluronic Acid occurs naturally in all living organisms (except plants). It can be found in a number of body tissues including the skin, the ocular vitreous body, articular cartilage, blood vessels, umbilical cord and synovial fluid

As we age our bodies produce less Hyaluronic Acid.

How do you use Repadina?

Just insert one ovule into your vagina at night-time. We recommend that you use one every night for at least the first 10 nights; after that, simply use one whenever you feel the need.

How quickly does Repadina work?

It will start to work immediately; that’s just one of the great things about Repadina – and most women report feeling its effects within a few days.

Do you need a prescription for Repadina?

No, you can buy it directly off the shelf in your pharmacy.
However, if your symptoms persist, or you are at all worried, you should consult your pharmacist or doctor.
